The City of San Luis named San Luis Police Department Canine officer “Denis” as the official city mascot during the council meeting held on February 24th, 2016.
“Denis” previously served with the United States Air Force as a dual purpose canine before joining his service with the Cocopah Police Department for a total of two years.
“Denis” later joined the City of San Luis Police Department in 2014 and since then has been a great asset to the police department and the community. “Denis” is a loyal partner who loves to work in making the community of San Luis a safer place.
The San Luis Police Department is honored to have had one of its police canines selected and named as the official city mascot. “Canine officers play an important role in the community as they assist our Police Department and safeguard officers against violence,” said Mayor Gerardo Sanchez.
