[ARCHIVED] Latest Scam Targeting Customers

San Luis, Arizona — The City of San Luis is warning the public of the latest scam targeting residents. A call was reported yesterday about a payment scam. A resident received a call from someone attempting to collect on a delinquent city utility bill in order for their service not be disconnected. The number that appeared in the caller ID had a prefix of 1-877-XXX-XXXX.
The public should be aware that a City of San Luis does not contact members of the public by telephone to demand money or any other form of payment.

Anyone receiving a telephone call seeking payment should refuse the demand and report the scam to the Police Department at (928) 341-2420.

Anytime that a person receives a call and is asked in any way to send money you should immediately be suspicious. If you have any questions regarding your utility bill please contact the City of San Luis Utilities Department at (928) 341- 8570.
