The City of San Luis has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

The City of San Luis has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Associationof the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

During the June 24th Special Council Meeting, the award of Financial Reporting Achievement will be presented to the Finance Department as the responsible party for preparing the award-winning CAFR. Council Meeting is scheduled to start at 6:30pm.

“First and foremost, we recognize the magnitude of this award as it represents the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by our Finance Department, as well as the City’s leadership and its management,” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez, adding “The City of San Luis is highly encouraged in these efforts to achieve and maintain an appropriate standard of excellence in financial reporting.”

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

The GFOAis a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
