San Luis, Arizona — Honorable Judge Kristin McManus Investiture and Administration of Oath of Office took place today at San Luis Municipal Court. Judge McManus presides over the San Luis Municipal Court after Judge Rosendo Morales’ retirement.
Judge McManus was born in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada and moved to the United States with her family in 1995. She received her Bachelor's degree from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with a double major in Psychology and Spanish. Ms. McManus attended law school at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law on merit scholarship from 2010-2013. While at the University, she participated in the Volunteer Lawyers Program, the Immigration Law Clinic, and worked with indigent defense agencies in both Yuma and Pima County. Following graduation, Ms. McManus began working at the Yuma County Legal Defender's Office as an Assistant Legal Defender. During her time there, she represented indigent defendants in over 250 felony cases, including several felony jury trials. In June 2016, she accepted the position of San Luis City Magistrate and began working at the San Luis Municipal Court on June 20, 2016.
