San Luis, Arizona — The City of San Luis is proud to announce that its Community Development Department has been awarded a $300,000 grant from the Arizona Housing Department. This grant will be utilized to partially fund the Merrill Avenue Street Improvement Project, which includes full width street pavement removal and replacement between Juan Sanchez Boulevard and Villa Street as well as the installation of a drain pipe connecting the Rio Sonora retention basin to Los Tres Hombres. Highway Users Revenue Fund will support the remaining expenses to complete the project.
Merrill Avenue Street Improvement will benefit all residents that reside in the areas of Merrill Ave, Rio Sonora Street as well as Villa Street creating a more efficient storm water drainage system that will eliminate prolonged storm water ponding surrounding the Rio Sonora retention basin.
“Congratulations to the City of San Luis’ Community Development Department on your grant approval! Please know that your efforts are important to the City of San Luis’ City Council as we are always supporting and approving projects to improve our streets and infrastructure that benefit our community” said Mayor Sanchez
