San Luis, Arizona — The City of San Luis is pleased to announce the selection of Laura I. Herrera as the new Public Information Officer/Assistant to Council.
Mrs. Herrera is a first-generation college graduate and the daughter of Mexican immigrants. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Arizona State University (ASU) in Tempe, Arizona. She is passionate about civic engagement and joins us with over five (5) years of experience in public service and community development. She is a former volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Promise Arizona, and Arizona Congressman Ruben Gallego.
Mrs. Herrera has appeared as a community advocate in local and regional news media outlets such as, Univision’s Noticiero Univisión and Despierta America, as well as ASU’s The State Press. She brings her knowledge to further develop communication between Mayor Gerardo Sanchez, City Council, the media, and the residents of San Luis, Arizona.
“I am pleased to welcome Mrs. Herrera as our new PIO/Assistant to Council,” said Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “I believe that her knowledge and experience will continue to foster City pride,” he added. Upon accepting this position Mrs. Herrera stated, “I am honored to serve the City of San Luis. My primary goal is to boost public interest and awareness regarding the City's ongoing accomplishments.” City Manager, Tadeo A. De La Hoya, stated, “In her new role, Mrs. Herrera will continue to work on our open and informative administration.”
