5k torch run fundraiser

 

San Luis, Arizona — On Saturday, April 22nd, 2017, the City of San Luis Police Department will be holding the Arizona Special Olympics 5k torch run and 1-mile walk fundraiser event.  The fundraiser will benefit the Special Olympics, the world’s largest sports organization whose physical fitness programs and athletic competitions benefit children and adult athletes with special needs.  The City of San Luis Police Department has been one of the top three fundraisers in Arizona for the past three consecutive years and has raised over $60,000 for the Arizona Special Olympics in the last four years.


The 5k run begins at 8:00 a.m. and the 1-mile fun run/walk begins at 8:15 a.m. at the Fernando Padilla Community Center.  The event finish line will be at Joe Orduño Park. 

Street Closures will begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 10:00 a.m.  Traffic will be impacted as follows: 4th Avenue from Juan Sanchez North to County 22nd and from County 22nd east up to 8th Avenue.  8th Avenue will stay open for traffic coming north on 8th Avenue, heading East on 22nd Avenue.
