San Luis, Arizona — In the City of San Luis, the
Department of Public Works has five divisions, which include the Fleet, Highway
Users, Solid Waste, Water and Wastewater.
These divisions are responsible for overseeing
the operations of the treatment and distribution of potable water, the
collection and treatment of wastewater, the collection and disposal management
of solid waste, the maintenance of city's fleet and equipment, the maintenance
of city's roadways and sidewalks along with all the surface and underground
infrastructure necessary for all divisions to perform their duties.
As the City of San Luis
continues to grow city officials praise those employees who perform various
Public Work duties, that is why the week of May 20 to May 26, 2018, was
proclaimed as National Public Works Week during the Regular Council Meeting
held on May 9, 2018.
In
celebration of Public Works Week, the City of San Luis Public Works Department
hosted a Public Works Week event at the Public Works Yard on May 23, 2018, in
which Council Member Mario Buchanan Jr. and City Manager Tadeo A. De La Hoya
attended. This event entitled two tours to the Water Treatment Plant and East
Waste Water Treatment Plant as well as hands-on activities to showcase some of
their daily activities such as:

Backhoe Basketball Exercise

Fork Lift Exercise
·
Hammer Drill Exercise
·
Street Sweeper Rides
·
Solid Waste Truck Exercise

Sanchez commented, “I am proud the City of San Luis celebrated Public Works
Week! This is a great opportunity for us
to learn what exactly our Department of Public Works does” he added that he is
proud and thankful for the dedication of the City’s Public Works team puts in
on their day to day tasks.
