San Luis, Arizona — Recently, Tadeo A. De La Hoya, City of San Luis City Manager and Gadsden Elementary School Board Member, joined the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund for their 2018 NALEO Education Summit. With more than 50 other policymakers from across the country for a two-day summit in Glendale, Arizona their presence demonstrated their commitment to ensuring student learning and academic success remains a top priority to the City of San Luis, Arizona.
During the NALEO Statewide Summit that took place from April 27-28, 2018, NALEO Educational Fund provided Mr. Tadeo A. De La Hoya and other state leaders with the opportunity to better understand the key educational issues in the state. These issues can help guide public officials to implement policy solution to support the educational attainment of all students. Several topics were addressed some included:
- Student Academic Gains and Opportunities for English Language Learners in ESSA
- ESSA and Implementation of the Arizona State Accountability Plan
- Per Pupil-Per School Reporting
- State Policy and the Future of Arizona Education
- And the Census 2020 – Make it Count Luncheon
At the Census 2020 – Make it Council Luncheon Mr. Tadeo A. De La Hoya was the session chair and discussed the importance on everyone participating in the Census 2020.
Mr. Tadeo A. De La Hoya, City Manager, commented, “It is important for all residents regardless of nacionality to participate in the upcoming 2020 Census.” He added that the data collected is used to distribute millions in federal funds back to our community that could be used in education, engagement, partnerships, and research purposes.
Mayor Gerardo Sanchez added that “I highly encourage everyone to fill out the 2020 Census form and be counted as revenue for our City depends on an accurate census count.”
