San Luis, Arizona —The City of San Luis is accepting applications for the kickstart of their San Luis Youth Council.
The San Luis Youth Council will provide a platform for youth to learn about issues impacting the community, expand their knowledge on the community they call home as well as offer an opportunity to bring out leadership traits that exist in our youth.
To be eligible for a youth delegate seat, you must be a San Luis resident, be enrolled between 9th grade through 12th grade and submit an application in which you will submit personal information and the reason why you want to join as well as what you would want to implement as a Youth Council.
“This has been a project in the works for the past year, and finally we are ready to launch the first ever Youth Council in San Luis, Arizona,” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “By forming a Youth Council, we are providing our youth with an opportunity to be a part of our growing community and have their voices heard,” added Mayor Gerardo Sanchez.
“This program would have not been made possible without the assistance and guidance from Center for the Future of Arizona’s DemocraSeed program, we are excited to be joining your 2018-2019 DemocraSeed cohort” stated City Manager Tadeo A. De La Hoya.
Currently, three members have been selected by San Luis High School to be a part of the San Luis Youth Council. Those members are Gibran Murrieta, Anney Romo, and Vanessa Aguiar.
