[ARCHIVED] San Luis City Hall Lights up Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

San Luis, Arizona — The City of San Luis has once again illuminated City Hall pink to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month.


October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the City of San Luis remains committed to raising awareness of the importance of early detection.


According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Breast Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer for women in the United States and remains the second leading cause of cancer death among women.


The City of San Luis and its employees recognize the importance and acknowledge the extraordinary commitment and effort invested in the education, prevention, treatment and early detection of Breast Cancer.


“We are proud to declare our commitment to fight breast cancer by partnering with local health organizations, as they will provide comfort and support to individuals and families that have been affected by breast cancer," said Mayor Gerardo Sanchez, adding that the partnership would allow the city to assist in the fight against breast cancer.


San Luis City Hall will be illuminated pink every night from October 15, 2018, until October 31, 2018.  City employees will also contribute to this recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month by wearing pink every Thursday for the remainder of the month.
