San Luis, Arizona — During the Regular Council Meeting held January 9, 2019, City of San Luis Mayor and Council appointed Mr. Angel Ramirez as the City of San Luis Fire Chief.
Chief Ramirez began his career with the San Luis Fire Department back in 2004 where he rose through the department’s ranks, becoming Fire Captain in January of 2013 and later promoted to Assistant Fire Chief on August of 2017. Since February 2018, Chief Ramirez had been filling in as Acting Fire Chief following the retirement of Hank Green.
Apart from 15 years of service with the San Luis Fire Department, Chief Ramirez is a Certified Public Manager and brings to the position: a paramedic degree, Hazardous Materials Technician degree, and a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Arizona State. Chief Ramirez has also completed and graduated from the State Fire Chief Academy.
“Mr. Ramirez is exceptionally qualified to serve the position and lead the department,” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. "We are honored and proud to have Chief Angel Ramirez serving our community,” he added.
