San Luis, Arizona — Business and Government leaders from Arizona and Sonora gathered in Hermosillo, Sonora, November 5th and November 6th for the Arizona-Mexico Commission (Comisión Sonora-Arizona) 60th Anniversary Summit.
The Arizona-Mexico Commission (AMC) in partnership with the Comisión Sonora-Arizona (CSA) hosted thirteen binational committee meetings that focused on this year’s theme, “Celebrating Our Legacy. Defining Our Future”. The 2019 AMC-CSA Summit was hosted by Arizona Governor Doug Ducey and Sonora Governor Claudia Pavlovich and in efforts to promote their strategies for cross-border collaboration. As well as to introduce their task forces and goals.
Among those in attendance were Vice Mayor Maria Cecilia Cruz, Council Member Matias Rosales, and City Manager Tadeo A. De La Hoya of the City of San Luis with Ms. Rebecca Ching, Directora de Promoción y Desarrollo Turístico from San Luis Rio Colorado and Ms. Buna George, Executive Director for Greater Yuma Port Authority. Keynote speakers included Sonora Governor Claudia Pavlovich and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, as well as U.S. Ambassador in Mexico Christopher Landau, and other top-level local, state, and federal government leaders from Arizona and Sonora.
“The Arizona-Mexico Commission has allowed Arizona and Sonora to come together to work toward one shared vision for the past 60 years”, stated Vice Mayor Cruz. “I am glad to have been a part of this year’s summit and represent the City of San Luis and present in the plenary session with Governor Ducey and Governor Pavlovich,” she added.
