[ARCHIVED] San Luis 2040 General Plan 60 Day Review Underway

General Plan 2040

San Luis, Arizona — Starting today, February 19, 2020, members from the general public can review the San Luis 2040 General Plan and provide additional input. The 60 day review period closes on April 19, 2020. You can review the document at www.SanLuis2040.com.

As a rapidly growing community, the City of San Luis is developing ideas for its future with the 2040 General Plan. A General Plan is the City’s roadmap to the future and is the primary tool that will be used to guide and manage the growth of our community. It is a visionary document that takes a comprehensive view of the growth and development over the next 10 to 20 years, helping guide all aspects of the City, such as new and existing development, city services, parks, and open space. It includes the City’s vision, goals, and policies for guiding future growth based on the input from the community.

The plan is grouped into four (4) themes:

  • Growth – explores community topics related to future growth and development of San Luis with high quality and safe neighborhoods, vibrant shopping areas, and supporting employment uses.
  • Economy – covers three (3) elements that provide a foundation for growing and sustaining a strong economy in San Luis: Economic Development, Community Revitalization, and Arts & Culture.
  • Environment – covers four (4) elements that integrate environmental protection with community growth: Environmental Planning, Conservation, Open Space, and Energy.
  • Public Services – establishes goals and policies to ensure public services to serve existing and future growth and are provided in a reliable, efficient, cost-effective, and strategic manner.

“With the City of San Luis growing so fast, it is important to get your input on the General Plan 2040,” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “The opportunities for San Luis are endless. Your input will help shape our community to ensure a great quality of life now and for future generations,” he commented.
