San Luis, Arizona – This afternoon at 6:18 p.m., Mayor Gerardo Sanchez signed an emergency order supplementing the stay home orders by allowing partial re-opening of retail businesses with the restrictions in place by Arizona Governor’s Executive Order No. 2020-33.
Governor Doug Ducey’s Executive Order No. 2020-33 amends the Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected order, and calls for a voluntary partial opening of retail businesses for curbside pick-up, delivery, and appointment-based services starting Monday, May 4, 2020. By Friday, May 8, 2020, non-essential retail in-person operations will partially reopen with the implementation of social distancing and sanitation measures put in place by the United States Department of Labor (DOR), the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Which includes but does not limit to strict physical distancing requirements, reduction of capacity at each location, comprehensive sanitation protocols, and closure of all fitting rooms in clothing stores.
The City of San Luis continues to work alongside Yuma County Health Department, Yuma Regional Medical Center, state and federal agencies to ensure the safety and healthy well-being of all residents. Currently in Yuma County, there are 89 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
“First and foremost the health of our community comes first. It is important to continue to practice and adapt our day-to-day lives to all the guidelines and regulations set in place by the CDC,” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “While the Governor may be trying to reopen our economy, it is important to do so in a safe and consistent manner,” he added.
