[ARCHIVED] City Hall Illuminates Pink and Purple for October

San Luis, Arizona – For the entire month of October, the San Luis City Hall and the San Luis Police Department will be illuminated pink and purple to bring awareness to Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence.

 

This October, the City of San Luis is proud to participate in National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Breast Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer for women in the United States. It remains the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths amongst women.

 

October is also National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. With over 21,000 calls to the National Domestic Violence hotlines reported, the City of San Luis is proud to take a stand to put an end to domestic violence.

 

“We are proud to declare our commitment to fight breast cancer and put an end to domestic violence,” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “The City of San Luis will continue to work with different organizations and community members to ensure everyone has the help and support needed,” he ensured. 

 

As part of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the City of San Luis is collaborating with South Yuma County Domestic Violence Coalition and the Proverbs 31 Home, a non-profit.  In hosting a Stand Against Domestic Violence that will be taking place Friday, October 9, 2020, at the roundabout on Main Street and Urtuzuastegui Street beginning at 8:00 a.m.
