San Luis, Arizona — This past Monday, January 11, 2021 COVID-19 vaccinations began at the Yuma County Public Health Services District for those that qualify under Phase 1B. This group includes education and childcare workers, protective services occupations, adults seventy-five (75) and older, essential services, critical industry workers, adults with high-risk conditions in congregate settings, and remaining 1A.
Due to the limited initial supply of vaccines, Arizona counties will be utilizing a vaccine prioritization phased approach. Residents interested in receiving the vaccine will need to be a member of the current phase, schedule an appointment, and provide a valid U.S. identification document and proof of employment.
To register and schedule an appointment an account needs to be created through the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) Vaccine Portal. For more COVID-19 vaccine information and detailed instructions visit the Yuma County Public Health Services District website at: https://www.yumacountyaz.gov/government/health-district/divisions/emergency-preparedness-program/coronavirus-2019-covid-19-yuma-county-updates/covid-19-vaccine-information
The health district will host vaccination clinics Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Vaccines will only be administered to individuals corresponding to Phase 1A and Phase 1B with appointments. Employed residents that qualify for the vaccine can make an appointment on their own, without waiting for their employer to offer the vaccine.
“As a COVID-19 survivor I am relieved to see that vaccines have begun to be distributed in Yuma County and are available for our City of San Luis residents who meet the current phases criteria,” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “I personally encourage everyone to get vaccinated in order to protect and keep ourselves, families, colleagues and community safe,” he added.
If internet access is an impediment or assistance is needed to register and schedule an appointment, feel free to call the City of San Luis at (928) 341-8520.
