[ARCHIVED] Vice Mayor Matias Rosales Term Ends As Chairman Of The Yuma County Planning And Zoning Commission

San Luis, Arizona — Vice Mayor Matias Rosales term as chairman of the Yuma County Planning and Zoning Commission came to an end this past Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Vice Mayor Rosales was first appointed as chairman on January 29, 2019, and was reappointed to serve a second term as chairman on January 28, 2020. 

The Yuma County Planning and Zoning Commission bylaws state in Section 1.A.1 “The Chairman and the Vice Chairman shall not serve more than two (2) consecutive terms without at least a one (1) year separation.”  

The commission acts in an advisory capacity to the board of supervisors and makes reports or recommendations in connection with any matter relating to the development of the county under the jurisdiction of the board. The commission provides recommendations pertaining to rezoning and special use requests, land use amendments, and initiatives. The commission also reviews tentative maps prior to subdivision development.

“It was an honor to be appointed by the commission to serve as their chairman these past two (2) years,” stated Vice Mayor Matias Rosales. “I look forward to continue my service as a commissioner representing the City of San Luis to help our county grow,” he added. 

“Vice Mayor Matias Rosales is a good representative for the City of San Luis,” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “His vast knowledge and advocacy contribute to the advancements of our city,” he concluded.
