[ARCHIVED] SAN LUIS BREAKS GROUND FOR MANGANESE WATER FILTRATION SYSTEM AT WELL SITE NO. 7

“This is an important accomplishment and I want to thank our residents for their support and interest in this project,” said Mayor Sanchez during the ceremony. Public Works Director, Eulogio Vera, explained during the ceremony that the this new manganese filtration system will have significantly better filtration, improved methods for controlling iron and manganese all of which will improve the quality of the city’s water.

The water plant improvements are scheduled to begin Monday, March 30th, 2015. The new manganese filtration system to be installed at the San Luis Well Site No. 7 will have a 2,200 gallon per minute filtration capacity, hence becoming our largest filtration system. It will increase the city’s wide filtration capacity from our current 4.0 million gallons per day to over 7.1 million gallons per day. By completing the $1.95 million dollar project, all water provided by the San Luis water distribution system will be filtered for manganese removal. The Pureflow manganese removal system will be installed by Integrated Water Services. This project is scheduled to be completed by the end of August 2015.
