San Luis Illuminated Gold

To recognize the determination and bravery of children who battle cancer and bring awareness to Childhood Cancer, the City of San Luis’ City Hall will be illuminated gold throughout September to support children and their families facing this disease.

According to the American Childhood Cancer Organization, 1 in 285 children in the United States are diagnosed with cancer before their 20th birthday. Globally, there are more than 400,000 children diagnosed each year. Childhood Cancer Awareness Month emphasizes the importance of life-saving research.

The City of San Luis and its employees recognize the importance of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and its impact on the families and the community. We encourage everyone to educate themselves on childhood cancer and do their part to help a loved one, a friend, or a neighbor who might be facing childhood cancer.

“Cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease for children in America. It is up to us to help raise awareness and show support to our local families battling this disease,” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “That is why on September 8, 2021, I will be proclaiming the month of September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in an effort to raise awareness,” he concluded.San Luis Illuminated Gold
