Miguel Gonzalez Day was adopted by Mayor and City Council, through resolution No. 2188, back in July 2021. This holiday was adopted to commemorate the memory of our esteemed colleague who lost his life due to COVID-19 and to acknowledge the perseverance of the essential workers and first responders who willingly and arduously continued providing essential city services to City of San Luis residents.

“I presented this idea in an effort to thank city staff for their dedicated work during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “I received positive support from City Council and after the loss of one of our most hard-working employees, its only appropriate to name this holiday after him to honor his memory,” he concluded.
