“National Library Week highlights why libraries are so valuable,” said, Mayor Sanchez. “It serves to remind people that in an increasingly digital world, libraries focus on building community face-to-face. Libraries welcome and encourage people, regardless of ethnicity, age, race, income or educational levels, to gather to explore, learn, imagine and interact.”
According the American Library Association, the theme of National Library Week 2015 is “Unlimited possibilities @ your library.” National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. All types of libraries - school, public, academic and special - participate.
