San Luis, Arizona — The City of San Luis finalized its Economic Development Administration (EDA) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funded Business Incubator to assist small, local, start up and expand businesses focused in producing jobs for local residents.

The 20,000-square-feet building will have a flexible configuration. 10,000-square-feet shall be devoted to primary incubator space, which shall consist of approximately 1,000-square-feet of common office space shared by five participating businesses with a range of square footage between 1,430-square-feet to 2,717-square-feet. The remaining 10,000-square-feet will be configured as two 4,237-square-feet spaces with its own office space, conference room and loading docks.

The City is currently accepting applications from businesses interested in leasing building space. Start up or expanding businesses must meet the criteria of presenting a business plan, secure adequate capital and present a complete and acceptable staffing plan.

The business incubator is an establishment intended to encourage applicants who are engaging in light manufacturing, machining, distribution, and similar industries such as wholesale brokers, dealers, distributors, appliance repair, printing, engraving, publishing, machine and tool repairs; packing business, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration repairs and furniture builders and cabinet makers to name a few. The incubator will not accept retail firms, but will allow sales functions to operate out of the incubator business for large distribution sales.

Interested businesses can request an application at the Community Development Department. For further information, you may contact Jenny Torres, Community Development Director or Dania Castillo, Economic Development Assistant at (928) 341-8584.

“The region has a lot of talented people with great ideas about products and services. The San Luis Business Incubator will be the vehicle to accelerate the growth and success of start up and expanding businesses which will stimulate the city’s economy.”
