[ARCHIVED] City of San Luis Celebrates National Public Works Week

In the City of San Luis, the Department of Public Works is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the City’s infrastructure, the collection and disposal management of solid waste and promoting recycling to residents. City leaders praise the employees who plan, design, build, operate the water supply, water treatment, solid waste systems, storm water, public buildings and other structures and facilities that are essential to serve San Luis residents.

“Every citizen encounters a staff member from the Public Works Department daily. This week celebrates those employees that spend countless hours improving the quality life of San Luis,” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “We have highly effective and dedicated employees that work daily to deliver public works services and they deserve our appreciation throughout the year,” he added.

Since 1960, the American Public Works Association has sponsored this appreciation week. Across North America, more than 28,000 members in the United States and Canada use this week to energize and educate the public on the importance of the contribution of public works to their daily lives: planning, building, managing and operating the heart of our local community.
