What Is AZPOINT?

AZPOINT, the Arizona Protective Order Initiation and Notification Tool, is a portal designed to help you fill out a petition for an Order of Protection, and Injunction Against Harassment, or an Injunction Against Workplace Harassment. Through a guided interview, you can quickly fill out the forms that are needed to request a protective order from an Arizona court. There is no fee to use AZPOINT.

The Court is available to issue a protective Order during regular business hours. After regular business hours and during weekends and holidays, any police officer can assist you in obtaining an Emergency Protection Order.

In-Person Assistance 

If you are unable to access the website through AZPOINT, you can obtain the appropriate forms Petition forms and Instructions available at the front counter customer service windows or you can print them from the Forms tab.  

If you do not have access to a computer, the Court has a computer available in the court lobby. The computer is available during normal business hours. Filing your Petition

To begin the process, you will need to click on this link, AZPOINT (www.azpoint.azcourts.gov) for initiating your petition.  

The system will guide you through the steps in completing your petition. Keep in mind that the petition is public record, and a copy will be served on the defendant if the order is granted.

Once you have filed your petition through AZPOINT you will need to write down your petition number. The petition number will need to be provided to the customer service clerk when you appear at the courthouse for your hearing with the judge. Have specific dates, times, and places for events which you feel constitute the issuance of the protective order.

What Happens Next?

If the judge grants your order, and it is served on the defendant, the order will be in effect for two years if it's a protective order and one year if it's an injunction. 

The effective date is based on the original service date.

If you filed, the petition you are the “Plaintiff” and you will need to review the Plaintiff Guide Sheet for additional information.

If you were served with an order, you are the “Defendant” and you will need to review the Defendant Guide Sheet for information regarding the protective order.

Keep in mind that a violation of a protective order may result in arrest and prosecution. Violations are prosecuted in the jurisdiction where the violation occurred, under A.R.S. §13-2810, Interfere with Judicial Proceedings, a class 1 misdemeanor.
